Steam OS?
Steam OS?
The preview serves as a solid short-term option while users test Windows before purchasing a full license. Of course, this means tolerating additional bugs and instability compared to the standard release. (Sorry, I couldn’t help it!)
Steam OS is built for display devices. For Linux users, Ubuntu is recommended.
I would just go ahead, and use Windows. Windows 7 alone is pretty solid. I don't really have many issues with it. Yes there will be a significant decrease in steam applications you can use if you go the way of Linux(SteamOS is a linux distribution). If you wish to save money, you can download Windows 8 from the Microsoft Technet Evaluation site. And when your 30 day trial is up, you can use the CMD command slmgr /rearm Up to a total of three times I believe(But only do it when your 30 day trial ends). In the meantime you can save up your money for a copy of Windows 8 (Which includes a free upgrade to Windows 10 -- I highly recommend upgrading to it), or Windows 10 when it finally does come out. Another option is the consumer preview for Windows 10.
Thank you for your responses. I’ll explore Linux options first, and if it doesn’t suit me, I’ll consider Windows 10 Insider. Most of my games aren’t Linux-friendly, so I hadn’t thought about it before. Appreciate the help!
