I'm a new Linux user, just got my Steam Deck a few days back, and right away I wanted to set up Vivaldi as my preferred browser. I followed a tutorial from gamingonlinux, which helped a lot, but the guide didn't explain how to create a shortcut for easy access. I checked Distrobox's GitHub page, where they mentioned a way to export it, but when I tried clicking the icon, nothing happened. I changed the file type to executable in the editor, then tried running it from the terminal with "run in terminal" and "do not close when command exits." Even though Podman is installed and working, this didn't work. I'm unsure if I did anything wrong because the issue stayed after a factory reset. I've heard of at least two other methods to install Vivaldi, but using Bottles feels too complicated for now. The instructions from the Vivaldi team could be useful, but updating it manually each time would be frustrating. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have limited memory of steamOS and even its interface details. It seems there might be a more efficient method, but what I can do is generate a link with an auto-run to the app and save it in the desktop folder using the shell you prefer from the command line. Essentially, there should be a better way than searching for symbolic links. I wondered if it’s better to look into how Nix directories function with bash commands like ln and man dir, then create the symbolic link appropriately. Sorry, I couldn’t provide a superior solution. I considered skipping the man command after bash, but it always intrigued me that man has a man. Edited September 23, 2022 by Bombastinator

Thanks, I'll attempt it when I have more time. Steamos runs on the standard KDE desktop environment, and the file system is fixed by default. Anything else?
