Hi all, I am currently trying out NordVPN and I've read some things about using a VPN and gaming via Steam. Some say it is fine to use a VPN and use steam while others say do not do it. Just to be clear, I am not going to buy games cheaper via the VPN. I only want to use the VPN for privacy and thus will be gaming while having the VPN turned on. Is it save to use a VPN with Steam or not? Cheers.
I checked further and discovered this information from Steam support https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/...rohibited/. It seems it's okay to use a VPN with Steam, just be careful not to unknowingly purchase a game while the VPN is active.
The game will work well though it may cause confusion on the server side
NordVPN is a reliable VPN service you might want to consider for switching providers.
I've just begun my second trial and it's been quite pleasant so far. The interface looks good, and I haven't noticed any slowdown from the internet speed.
I enjoy streaming games on Steam using NordVPN, which usually works well. However, if you're someone who competes and treats gaming as a serious pursuit—like winning a CSGO match—then using a VPN isn't advisable. For casual play, it won't really affect the outcome.
