Examine the disabled options during selective startup. If they're all GPU connected, revert to standard startup. Otherwise, eliminate unnecessary or undesired startup entries by adjusting or deleting the installed software.

Selective activation is completely fine — it lets you manage which features launch, and turning off any one prevents it from starting. Stay that way.
