Hello, my first gaming PC is now up and running smoothly, aside from a few hiccups linked to AMD’s GPU driver problems—like black screens and crashes that appeared after a recent driver update. Early last week I increased my RAM speed to its maximum rated rate (3200mHz), which matches the motherboard’s limit for RAM. I also swapped out the original Wraith cooler for an NZXT Kraken X42 AIO. All these changes were made within the same week, making it hard to pinpoint the exact issue.
In the past few days my system has been unstable: it crashes during games, restarts while playing Discord, and even shut down unexpectedly while watching YouTube. Initially I thought it was due to the RAM being bumped up to 3200mHz, but after using the D.O.C.P preset in BIOS, both RAM and motherboard are rated for that speed. I ran memtest stress testing the RAM last night and it passed perfectly with no errors.
Temperatures seem normal—CPU stays under 53°C, GPU around 70°C during gaming, RAM never exceeded 46°C during testing. The only other concern is whether the native Ryzen 7 speed of 2933mHz could be causing problems compared to others running at 3600mHz. I’m also wondering if driver conflicts might be involved, given AMD’s known issues and the potential for software clashes with NZXT software.
My specs are: Ryzen 7 2700X at stock speeds, RX 5700 XT, ASUS TUF Gaming B450 Plus Mobo, 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB at 3200mHz, and an NZXT Kraken X42 AIO.
I recently ran Prime95 stress tests on the system—using one RAM stick at a time, then both together—and the machine didn’t freeze like before. It was running with XMP disabled and speeds set to auto. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
You have impressive specs, right? What's the power supply unit doing? Probably not the main problem, but if it can't handle the load, things won't work well. Also, make sure the SATA cables near your new gear are secure. And check if the debug indicator lights up or makes a sound.
