Starting problems after BIOS update After installing the BIOS update, the system encountered booting issues.
Hello everyone, I'm facing some challenges resolving this problem on my own and would really appreciate your assistance. Over the past weeks, my PC has been shutting down unexpectedly without clear reasons. I've attempted numerous fixes but haven't managed to resolve the issue. The shutdowns occur in various situations: right after launching a game, after playing for some time, and when I log in through the PC window following a random power cut. I've tried upgrading the CPU cooler, swapping out the GPU, monitoring temperatures, adjusting RAM settings, performing system scans, rebooting multiple times, and even clearing files related to window logs and temporary files (like Freemake Files and TMP error log). Today, I decided to check for BIOS or system updates that might resolve the problem. I started with Windows 10 22H2 installation without issues, but updating the BIOS to version 6042 from 6023 caused further complications. The PC now only boots past the ROG logo, requiring a BIOS reset or pressing Delete/F2 to enter. I've reinstalled the BIOS from the same USB, tried another USB, rolled back to an older BIOS version, and even reset it, testing with XMP enabled or disabled. My current setup includes: Windows 10 64-bit, Asus ROG Strix X470-f gaming, Ryzen 5 5600X, RTX 3080 Ti, Vision OC, 16GB G.Skill RAM, 650W cooler, master PSU NZXT X63 AIO Cooler, and a 2TB M.2 SSD. I'm unable to boot into anything other than the BIOS, and even a reset is necessary to access it. Please let me know if you can help. I'm happy to share any additional details if possible.
The power concern appears to stem from a power supply concern. Regarding the BIOS, it seems some adjustments were made before installing Windows—possibly by a friend. If you built the system, do you recall any changes? Consider trying secure boot enabled and then disabled. If your SSD uses SATA, ensure it's configured in AHCI mode. Verify that your SSD is set as the primary boot device. Test booting in UEFI and legacy modes, and try launching from a live Linux USB to confirm functionality.
I've been using the GPU for a couple of months now. Initially, I didn't face any problems with the PSU, but I'm planning to upgrade it. Right now, I can only access the BIOS from the PC, and my SSD is set as the main boot drive. It's also an M.2 NVME SSD connected via the motherboard. Thank you for your assistance—I'll try following your advice. My current thought is either a corrupted BIOS or a damaged OS. Would booting from another drive with a fresh Windows 10 installation help?
