Starting FreeDOS on an older laptop using its SSD drive
Hello! I bought a FreeDOS laptop hoping to save some money. My plan was to use the existing SSD from the older machine, which had Windows 10 installed, to start my new FreeDOS system, gaining extra space and free Windows. Here are my thoughts:
1) Is this a good idea? I learned I might need to update drivers or that the Windows license could be tied to the old hardware.
2) Does just changing the boot order of drivers work for this trick?
3) What would happen if things go wrong? Could I run into issues?
4) If I have to wipe everything from a USB stick, should I take care of the old SSD beforehand?
Essentially, I want to reuse the old SSD as the main drive for my new FreeDOS laptop.
You don’t need to format the old SSD if you want to keep it on the same system; otherwise, using it as an external drive is fine. Let me know if you need more details!
