Starting a new setup of Windows 8 from scratch
Hey everyone, I just placed an order for a new CPU and SSD (FX-8320 and EVO 840 250GB). I’m planning a fresh Windows 8 installation on the SSD and will be wiping out my current 500GB HDD. Since this is mainly a gaming PC, I don’t want any data from the old drive carried over. My main concern is whether I can just re-enter my Windows license key and everything will work as expected. Also, do you have any advice on formatting and wiping another HDD? Thanks, Slippy!
Provide your key and it should function properly; if not, call the displayed number and activate via phone—it only takes a few minutes.
The way you format the HDD would depend on your setup. After installing Windows on your SSD, you’d typically format the SSD first, then use it as a secondary drive. Plugging the HDD in afterward would require formatting it again, which might not work properly if it’s already formatted for the SSD.
