Starting a bootable MacOS USB from a PC
Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I've been here or used this setup, so I'm reaching out for advice.
Do you know how to quickly download an old MacOS image and prepare a bootable USB for use on a Mac?
I have a fairly old Power Mac from 2013 that we received during the pandemic lockdowns, after which we upgraded to more powerful workstations in 2022.
Recently, when I turned it on (just for messaging and video tutorials now), it got halfway through the boot process and then failed. It restarted and tried again, but after a few attempts it displayed a serious error message.
I’m not too concerned about saving anything to the hard drive; I just want to wipe the drive clean and start over.
Is this something I’ve done before? Any suggestions for a simple, low-effort solution would be great—ideally a tool that finds the image and creates the USB at once, copying the OS along the way?
If not, I can also do it manually, but I’m having trouble locating the OS image for the USB.
I hope it’s just the drive issue. Thanks in advance!
