Hey everyone, I'm planning to dive into Fallout. Since I enjoy RPGs, I'm curious about the best starting point—New Vegas or 3? Do earlier games really have no connection to later ones in terms of story? Also, could playing 3 and New Vegas first give you some advantages in Fallout 4?

Everyone has similar aspects, yet the sequence you use doesn't really matter. I'd still choose FO3 -> NV -> FO4.

I’d really begin with 4. It’s significantly improved over 3 or NV, especially in appearance and how the missions and maps are arranged.

You're likely skipping a few games now. Just remember to finish ME3, The Witcher 3, and Fallout 4 before those new ones drop. Life's tough, but you've got this!

No interest in the old titles is understandable. You only want to revisit past games for the narrative. I began with Fallout 2 and still find it compelling today because of its story. You’ll feel that yearning when you learn about the G.E.C.K. It brings you back to your time with Fallout 2. Some videos cover the full story from all the series, but many details don’t fit. Most people don’t have the time to replay earlier games now, so consider just reading the overview and moving on. If you’re up for it, try the classics.

I think the classics are enjoyable but may not be ideal for beginners. Try a newer title first. If you enjoy it, revisit the classics—it’s not necessary to understand the backstory right away. Many players find it more rewarding to explore how the series developed and discover the unique stories and characters they might have missed.

You're already choosing the correct option! Just remember, FA4 breaks the continuity from earlier games—so if you prefer, revert to 3 and NV. The visuals and issues from previous titles might bother you if you're used to modern releases. Mods help a lot, but HD texture packs for FA are still limited compared to games like Skyrim.
