Please help me figure this out! I've built my first system, but I ran out of money before buying a SSD. I only have a 4gb usb flash drive and a 750gb external usb HDD. I'm trying to figure out how to get Windows 10 to boot using the 750gb HDD until I can afford an internal SSD. I've downloaded the Windows installer onto the 750gb HDD because it said it requires >8gb of storage. I've gone into the bios and changed the boot order to usb but for some reason I cannot install the OS onto the same usb HDD and I'm wondering what will make this work. I just want to be able to play some TF2 until I can afford the activation key, SSD, and games. Edited September 18, 2018 by GrimsAnarchist Words..
Transfer Ubuntu to a USB stick. Remove the external storage, insert the hard drive into your machine. Set up Ubuntu and use it until you can upgrade to a larger card—perhaps for Windows 10. You can enjoy Team Fortress 2 on Linux, which offers smoother performance than Windows.
