Hey everyone, I've been following Star Citizen since the Kickstarter launch and I have to say, it's impressive where it's headed. I'm really excited about what's coming next. To clarify, how does ship buying actually work? From what I understand (and it seems a bit off), you purchase ships using real money, then use them in-game. #Edit: It's unlikely people would be pleased if someone bought a ship they paid for with in-game currency, so are P2W ships allowed or is there some kind of adjustment?

You can buy ships using real money, which supports the game's technical side. Most smaller vessels work in Arena Commander. As you progress through the persistent universe (the MMO part), you'll earn money to purchase ships. Buying with real money essentially contributes to the game's funding.

Currently the purchases function as pledges, offering a base ship based on the pledge amount. Think of it more as supporting game development at this stage. The bundles contain the final version with optional alpha or beta features. All ships will appear in-game once released, using in-game credits. You only need to purchase the game; after launch, buying ships with real money will be disabled. You can also rent ships obtained through earned credits during the alpha phase—these are virtual and meant for testing before spending real currency.
