Well, it has finally happened. As of a few hours ago, Star Citizen has officially added its second Solar System - Pyro, and updated from 3.24.3 to 4.0.0 on the LIVE servers after 6 years on Alpha Stage 3. If you want to get the game then simply go to: Star Citizen Sign-Up/Login ALL of the videos below are brand new releases that just dropped on their Official YT channel alongside the update. And of course they had to release a new ship with the big new update as well. A Heavy Fighter class this time around Even already have an In-Game Player review of the new Heavy Fighter. Man, Tubers work fast these days NOTE: Star Citizen is the most advanced game in human history and as such has VERY HEAFTY system requirements. Installation of Star Citizen MUST be done on an SSD or the game will be literally unplayable and an M.2-Based NVME drive is recommended. 16GB of System DRAM is the bare minimum and 32GB is Recommended to avoid crashing and generally improve frame rates. The game is heavily CPU bound so while older CPUs do work, Ryzen 5600 and newer/higher is recommended. GPU can be anything decent with 8GB or more VRAM depending on resolution played. There are still players with GTX 1000 series GPUs. Unfortunately CIG was forced to call the first implementation of 4.0 LIVE a "Preview" because it simply wasn't stable with all of the features enabled. So to make the deadline to release before leaving for Christmas/New Year break, they were forced to remove a bunch of the new gameplay features from the patch. However, as a result, the game is now running much better than Alpha Stage 3 with much higher server tick rate thanks to the Server Meshing. Because of minimal testing and the possibility of game-breaking bugs in 4.0, CIG has also decided to leave 3.24.3 up and running alongside the new 4.0 so you can choose to install either game from the launcher. The general community believes that Alpha 4.0 is basically the advancement to "Beta" development stage because it implements most of the Server Meshing Technology required to complete the game and CIG is FINALLY on a reasonable schedule for a full 1.0 release after all these years. The Server Meshing currently being used for 4.0 is 6 servers per shard, maximum player count per shard is now up to 500 versus 100 from Alpha 3. This is certainly the most important release in the game's entire history. P.S. My personal recommendation for a starter ship is still the Aegis Avenger Titan. To this day it remains the best value starter in the game and you can earn almost any ship in the game with in-game currency. To upgrade your starter ship to an Avenger, simply purchase any game package with a ship UNDER the value of the Avenger (such as the Drake Cutter or Origin 100i) and then return to the RSI Website > Pledge Store > Other > Ship Upgrades and you will only pay the difference in ship value to upgrade. Also, there is simply an Avenger Holiday package currently on sale.

Yes, the project has now gathered more than $750 million. It stands as the most sophisticated game ever created, which explains the long development time. Fortunately, at Citizen-Con this year CIG (the developer) adjusted their plans and finally secured the final goals. The single-player campaign, named "Squadron 42," is slated for a 2026 launch, and a select group of early supporters already enjoy access. The "Star Citizen" multiplayer universe is expected to progress rapidly once Squadron 42 is complete, as most developers are concentrating there. The project now targets five solar systems for the full 1.0 version, with many core gameplay features already in place such as bounty hunting, mining, salvaging, multi-crew missions, exploration, medical rescues, and various combat modes. I’ve been testing the alpha since 2017 and can confirm these systems function well, offering a substantial amount of content that could match any fully released AAA title. The only drawback of the alpha is numerous bugs, high system requirements, and occasional low frame rates—common expectations for such a new release.

I generally wait for updates before purchasing new titles, hoping developers address issues first. At this price point, $750 million feels excessive—my personal view is that it carries a negative implication rather than a positive one.

I don’t care about others... I just play games for fun, not because of their tech. If Freelancer had a remake, I’d buy it right away, but for SC when it hits 1.0, I’m not sure.

$750M over 12 years of work and they remain in alpha. Some enjoy it, but I think the investment was largely wasted. They might have more advanced simulation than others, yet from a gameplay perspective, I don’t feel it’s the most cutting-edge.
