Hi, I see you're facing challenges with your C/C++ extension in VS Code while working remotely. Here are some possible fixes:

- Try restarting the extension or clearing its cache.
- Ensure your remote server has sufficient resources and is properly configured.
- Check for background processes that might be consuming CPU.
- Consider switching to a lighter IDE like Nvim if performance is critical.
- Verify that your SSH connection and VPN settings are stable.

Let me know if you'd like more specific steps or troubleshooting tips!

Don't worry about mounting the remote folder; you can use sshfs. It might not be very fast, but it lets you run any editor you prefer on your local machine.

I’m ready to try, though it’s a substantial task. Others have mentioned that sshfs isn’t ideal for large projects.

I anticipate the best approach is establishing a remote desktop connection. Existing methods for remote file access involve considerable processing delays per file.

I regretfully don’t have a viable choice. This task is built on a server I can’t directly modify. I plan to discuss the situation with some colleagues tomorrow to understand their approach.
