ssdBlue issue with internal SATA SSD in Windows 10
I've been attempting to set up UE 5 on my machine but the Epic Games Launcher failed repeatedly due to corrupted files. I tried restarting the PC, which worsened the issue—now the SSD displays a blue question mark, isn't visible in File Explorer, and Disk Management can't recognize it. The registry editor shows no devices listed, and even the BIOS only mentions one SATA port despite having two. I have other computers available for troubleshooting, but I'm concerned about the outcome. Are there any software or hardware fixes you recommend before proceeding? This 2 TB Crucial MX500 2.5" SSD from late December last year seems to be the problem.
Fortunately, my drive didn't fail. I wasn't sure exactly what happened, but simply unplugging and then reconnecting the SATA power cable to the SSD resolved the issue. I had a bit of a stressful moment thinking I'd lost 2TB of data, but everything is now fine.
