I recently installed a second NVMe SSD on a Gigabyte B550 DS3H (model revision 1.5). Despite Gigabyte's website mentioning support for X4 in both slots—one dedicated and one via chipset—I'm using a PCIe 3.0x2 configuration. My setup includes an RYZEN 7 5700X, a Gigabyte B550 DS3H, a 6700X on the PCIe 4.0x16 slot, plus an HDD, a Samsung EVO 860 SSD, and a Kingston Renegade Fury Gen4 SSD (first M.2). I'm seeking advice on how to upgrade the second NVMe drive to X4, as no BIOS settings seem available for this change.

I don’t have a clear answer for whether it’s x2 or x4. I’d try swapping the drives to check if the second one shows x2 in that M.2 slot, which would help determine if the problem is with the drive or the motherboard.

Upgrade the motherboard BIOS. It’s currently 21 months past its last update. Verify functionality using SATA storage connected through different SATA ports on the board.

only two recent changes were made, each offering small improvements for the 5800x3d chip. I verified that no additional changes exist.

I'll check all the SSDs at once, but I'm not sure if they're divided into lanes.

The highest M2 port links to the CPU, while the second port connects to the chipset. It's possible the second port and SATA connectors overlap in lanes—consider verifying this by disconnecting the SATA drives or using different SATA adapters.
