SSD isn't appearing on bootable media.
Encountering issues with Windows 11 installation? Your SSD isn’t appearing in the bootable section of the BIOS, though it’s detected by Intel Rapid Storage Technology. It seems to recognize the USB drive containing the download media. When prompted for the drive, it doesn’t show up if you need more details or guidance. I’ve been trying to install Windows for three days without success—my M.2 SSD works fine, but I plugged it into my laptop using an external USB. The system specs are: CPU i9-13900K, 16GB RAM, Trident Z5, F5-7600J, and the motherboard is ASUS Prime Z790. Storage includes Samsung 970 EVO Plus plus a 2TB TBX.
Sure, I can adjust that. The download option will appear as requested. I’ll display a picture next.
Never mind it says something different but I don’t understand this I feel a bit slow now that I read this but this part is usually “which drive do you want to install windows to” I’m downloading a custom version of windows 11 pro and it says “select the driver to install” but they’re not showing up(dk I’d it’s still a problem or not but my drive still isn’t showing in the drives thought)
You can find the drivers by checking the official website or contacting the support team.
ASUS mentions the board supports up to 7200+, implying maximum performance might reach around 6800MT/s unless you obtain a top-tier CPU from an unpredictable source. Pressing back likely prevents the display from appearing, as it requires a specific device driver installed on the media. Without knowing your exact Windows version, it's unclear which driver is needed or if installation is advisable.
I solved the issue but the driver downloads are gone from the site and replaced them with setupRST. Since the guides won't work, you’ll need to find the Intel VDM drivers separately and install them through the Windows setup process.
I’m still having issues, so I didn’t click the solution button. The drivers I need are listed, and even the standard installation is repeating the same message. It seems the version I have is a stripped-down build of Windows 11 Pro without Cortana, which isn’t what I expected.
Turned off VDM and your drive appears but displays an error about partition creation. Refer to setup logs for details.
This wasn’t supposed to be so tough, which is why VDM appears automatically if it leads to these issues.
