SSD boot drive failed, attempting to recover from backup.
Well… my SSD failed. It was the boot drive, a 1TB Sabrent Rocket Q. While updating graphics card drivers, it blue-screened to a WHEA error and isn’t recognized by the motherboard anymore. I’ve reset the CMOS, tried another slot, but it still doesn’t appear. A few months ago I built a second PC for use as a NAS, and I have a backup of my system there. However, when I open the backup file, it asks “do you want to restore files from this backup?” I select “restore files,” but then I’m redirected to a screen with no options. I’m unsure what to do next. The file is 1.2TB, and in Explorer I can still see my files. I really need some assistance.
You're welcome! It's a smart move to secure an imaging backup. Your 1TB Crucial P5 Plus is a solid choice, and having a Windows installer on your USB is handy for quick fixes. Regarding your Windows activation key, it depends on the specific product you purchased—some licenses can be transferred or reused under certain conditions. I recommend checking the documentation or contacting the manufacturer to confirm if your key can be reused.
