Well first off I’ll try to cover up any mistakes with spelling or grammar since I’m not a native English speaker. I had quite a few issues with games lagging, almost always thinking it was my internet speed—it’s pretty slow sometimes—but it wasn’t. I checked what processes were using memory and opened the Activity Manager. When I played games like CS:GO and heavily modded Minecraft online with friends, my processor usage was around 99-100%. I looked at RAM usage and saw it hovering near 3.5GB. I was shocked and said, “God, what’s going on?” Then I checked the processes, and Spotify was using about 3.5GB of memory. What a shock! My Minecraft client was using around 2GB. With 8GB of RAM, that should be fine, right? I figured unless you’re running Skype, Spotify, and games at once… well, it’s possible. But then I noticed that restarting Spotify would cause it to use about 1.1GB. I watched the usage increase steadily while playing songs, around 4KB per second. It felt like the music was downloading to RAM while playing, which is strange since it’s a streaming service. And once it kept filling up more and more, especially at faster speeds, it seemed like data wasn’t being cleared from RAM. This is really odd and seems like a serious issue on their end. I’d love to know if anyone else has the same problem—it looks like a major flaw.”
My primary browser is Chrome, but it doesn’t handle games very well... I prefer using a dedicated client app instead of relying on the browser. Regarding settings, there are essentially none, which is one of my main concerns about Spotify...
