Hello everyone. I purchased a cheap 3-pin case fan with a very short cable, so I had to link it to the SYS_FAN3 connector using an extension cable. The fan is spinning at full speed, and I think it's a new model with 4-pin connectors that can detect other fans but not this one. Could the extension cable be causing the issue?

Yes, that's feasible. The situation might be that the fan isn't communicating with the motherboard. Try connecting the fan directly to the motherboard header, then check if the BIOS recognizes it. If it does, the issue is likely the extension cable. If not, the fan itself is the problem.

I should verify that first before posting. I've linked another fan to the extension cable on the FAN_SYS3 header. It was detected, indicating the issue is with the fan. Since it was the first one and it's running at full speed, I'm not surprised. I also want to explain why I need to control this fan. It's the hard drive cooling fan, and it's operating at maximum speed. I'm a bit concerned about the temperature of the hard drives not being too high. When idle, it's around 29-31°C.

It's always going to be the same, nothing changes.

Thanks for the message. I saw that low temperatures can be just as harmful as high ones.
