Speed test on one laptop is slower, but functions properly on an older machine.
I have a 1Gbps fiber connection. Recently, I experienced some ping problems that have since been fixed. However, during a speed test, my speed was around 500Mbps. I contacted my provider who sent a technician using an old Dell laptop and the Ethernet cable connected to my Alienware (my main laptop). The technician's speed test showed 800+ Mbps consistently. I also tried with a friend's Lenovo laptop, which consistently exceeded 900Mbps. I’m unsure if this issue is new, but I don’t understand what might be causing it since my upload speed matches theirs (about 800Mbps). Is there anything I can do about this? Here are the results from my PC (showing 540.20 Mbps) and my friend's laptop, with multiple tests from various websites to ensure accuracy. My system is an Alienware 15 2015, and both have been tested over a wired connection.
I face the same problem but with DSLreports, they display gigabit speeds. https://www.speedtest.net/result/8135358275 http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/47706466
