When I start Cod MW my system becomes extremely sluggish. I verified the processor speed and it reads 0.78 GHz, while it typically operates at around 4.5 GHz. This issue appears only during gameplay and not when running other intensive applications. Even after closing the program, the clock remains stuck at 0.78 GHz until I restart my computer. I searched online but didn’t find a fix, so I’m seeking help here.

Typically this seems like a throttling problem caused by high temperatures. How did you determine the temperature? It might also relate to power efficiency. Start by clearing the CMOS, then adjust the settings to turn off C-State and power-saving features. Also change the window power options to high performance and ensure standby, hibernation, and screensaver settings are disabled.

The readings came from Corsair iCue and MSI afterburner. Currently, I was playing BFV and it felt nice at about 50°C. The power level is set to "Ultimate Performance." Others on Google with similar setups fixed the issue using different power options, but I'm using a desktop. It only uses 20% CPU when running in MW. This has started recently. I’ll reset the CMOS and let me know again.

Do you own an MSI motherboard and are using their Control Center software? It's been leading to several issues lately.
