Hey there, I've been using the ASUS AI mesh for almost a year without any problems, but now I'm facing serious issues. My setup includes an AC5300, followed by a hard-wired Cat 6 cable to an AC68U, and then another AC68U. When connected to the first AC68U, speeds jump from 950/550 to around 100/100. But if I disconnect the cable from that unit and plug it directly into my PC, everything works fine. I'm not sure what's going on. Any suggestions or ideas?

When the wireless routers operate in their default ‘router’ setting, they’ll need NAT functionality and will slow down the next device in the line of sight. Because everything is connected via cables (excellent setup!), you won’t require AiMesh. AiMesh is suitable for building a full wireless mesh, which is less effective than using several APs linked through a wired connection like yours. I recommend checking each router’s configuration (except the main one that connects all others) to enable wireless AP mode. Look for the instructions in the manual. Then, give each AP a unique channel on the 2.4GHz band—use channels 1, 6, and 11—or on the 5GHz band, ensuring no overlap with neighboring networks, especially if you opt for wider channel widths.

I did that but the problem remains unchanged.

Hope all devices are linked through LAN ports, not WAN. Turn off AiProtect. When keeping identical SSIDs across units, confirm they share the same security settings (like WP2-PSK-AES) and password; only adjust channel settings as needed. Please share screenshots of the ‘Networks’ and ‘Analyze’ sections from WiFi Analyze r. Your SSID is highlighted here.

I believe the problem lies with the single AC68U. Swapping it with another model resolved the issue, but it started working again after the last one. Not sure if it’s a complete failure or just a specific case.

Reset the final item in the sequence, turn off AiProtect, and switch it to AP mode.
