What exactly is this material on my GPU heatsink that was meant to cool the memory chips? I’m confused because nothing I’ve found online makes sense. It looks like K5 Pro parts, but I don’t understand what’s being used. If I go back to the original build, I’d replace it with proper cooling solutions like thermal pads, paste, or putty. I’m not finding clear references linking these products to this specific setup.
it looks like some sort of thermal putty to me. Doubtful that you'd find info on any spec sheet, cause the stuff is pretty generic and there's not gonna be a need to replace it with the exact stuff that shipped with the factory model. What really matters is clearance, and what thickness thermal pad you would replace these with. however, if these blue spots are sufficiently gooey, you can reuse this stuff by sticking it back on to the correct spots. I did that with my current GPU when I repasted it, it came with pink spots that I squished back into place.
