I purchased an MSI B450M-A Pro Max and plan to install a Ryzen 2600. Will everything work fine or should I return it urgently?

It should be fine. It's a Ryzen board and Max means it's 3000+ ready. The non-max version would require a bios update but will run a 2600 out of the box.

I understand it might function, but I’m unsure about its constraints mainly because it only supports a 4-pin CPU power connection.

The board will operate at full speed. Your 2600 won’t hit that level. I’d care more about the video card limiting your performance than the graphics card. Or maybe the RAM.

It's okay to analyze things carefully. If you're concerned about power, look at the specifications. The AM4 model consumes less power than AM3. Your upcoming unit will have 65 watts initially and can reach around 90 watts with built-in boosters.

The motherboard's weak VRM may cause power throttling during heavy CPU work. It's hard to give a solid suggestion without knowing your budget or location.

It's a Tier C rating, only slightly above that, which means it should manage a 2600 easily. The performance depends on the amount of airflow in the tower.
