Sound of clicking coming from power supply unit
Recently my computer began producing this unusual clicking sound from the power supply unit. It occurs during both light and heavy usage and continues while the system is running. I’ve checked the fan inside, but there’s no obvious problem there. Could this noise be caused by something else, and should I worry? My build is homebuilt, around ten years old, and hasn’t had any issues before except with my GPU a few years back. The motherboard is Gigabyte 970A-UD3, the CPU is AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz, the GPU is ZOTAC GeForce GTX 960, RAM is 8GB Kingston HyperX, and the PSU is XFX Pro 550W.
It seems the fan bearing or related component might be the issue you're experiencing.
I initially thought similarly, but then I realized the problem might be with the power strip itself. When both my speakers and PC are plugged into the same power strip, the noise gets louder through the speakers even without the PC connected. It could be a grounding issue with the PSU. I've tested different outlets and strips without any change.
