I’ve experienced intermittent problems with my microphone over the past few months. While streaming to Twitch and recording in OBS, a faint crackling or static noise appears—especially when I’m speaking without background music or game sounds. It’s subtle and only shows up during live sessions, not when recording alone. When muted or when recording separately, the sound disappears, which helps narrow down the cause. The issue typically starts after a short period before it becomes noticeable.

I’ve adjusted various bitrate and encoding settings in OBS without success. My internet speed is adequate, and I’ve ruled out hardware problems with USB mics, as the problem occurs with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on my PC and motherboard. Using a headset mic works fine, but it only appears with USB devices, suggesting another factor at play.

I’ve disabled Windows’ USB power management settings and tried different USB ports, but nothing changed. My audio filters in OBS are basic and haven’t helped either. The noise isn’t consistent with background fans or other equipment—it sounds distinct. It happens regardless of the number of open applications or the intensity of tasks.

I’ve verified my audio drivers are up to date and ensured only one microphone source is active, eliminating interference from other devices like my webcam. Still, I’m unsure what else to try. My system specs are listed below; any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
