Sound issue on the computer is occurring.
Hey everyone, just finished assembling my girlfriend's first PC using some components from my old machine and a few new additions she asked for. Unfortunately, once we began gaming on it, it started making this annoying intermittent whining sound. Any idea what might be causing that? The specs look like an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with a 3.7 GHz clock, 8-core processor, Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE cooler, an Asus ROG STRIX B450-F, and a Zotac AMP Extreme GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. The build includes a Western Digital Black M.2 SSD, a Corsair VS550 power supply, and a full tower case.
It might be a faulty fan bearing or an aging AIO pump. There could also be GPU coil whine, but the sound doesn’t match what you hear.
It occurs during gaming as well as when idle or using the desktop.
It's likely a coil whine coming from the GPU, particularly noticeable during gaming. The issue might stem from the AIO pump's speed being controlled by PWM on the motherboard rather than the CPU temperature directly affecting it. As the CPU heats up, the pump speed increases. Running Prime95 or GPUtest could help determine if CPU heating causes the problem. If the noise persists after stopping the fans during testing, it points to coil whine.
