There is a hissing coming from what I'm pretty sure is the motherboard. It is most notable when playing games. I noticed it the first time while playing Tank Mechanic Simulator, that depending on where you are looking, the tone of the hissing would change or almost disappear. I've tested a couple other games and confirmed that it happens in those as well. I've flashed the bios. I've DDU'd and re-installed the graphics drivers. I've swapped out the graphics card. I've confirmed that Windows is up to date. I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers from MSI for the motherboard. Not because of this, but I did replace all of the case fans. My specs are: Windows 11 Pro 64bit MSI Pro Z790-A Max Wifi (BIOS version v.60 just flashed today)(It has both 8Pin connectors plugged in) Intel i5 12600k (stock clocks) 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (5200MHz XMP profile 1) Asrock RX 7900 XTX (stock) (replaced a Sapphire RX 7800XT) Crucial P3 1TB drive Corsair RM 850 (850W 80+ gold) Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I can only hear fan hum if I'm close; I'll test later with better speakers. My thought is coil whine, which can change a lot based on what the PC is doing. If you can pinpoint exactly which components are making noise, a small bit of hot glue between parts or between the part and board might reduce vibration enough to quiet it or alter the sound.
Hey there, many of these posts are similar to yours—don’t worry, you’re not alone! I even replaced my 2080 Super from MSI with a Palit model and eliminated the coil whine completely. I could have bought a new MSI card without any issues, it’s almost like a lucky draw. Coil whine isn’t dangerous or damaging, it just makes the sound bothersome. Reducing framerate can help, but with a high refresh monitor you’ll still see all the frames. Some 7900 XTX and RTX 4090 models sometimes have strong coil whine.
