I'm experiencing a minor 'pop' sound at the start of certain audio cues, especially in Red Dead Redemption 2. This happens when mission notifications or similar sounds begin playing, causing a slight cutting-in effect. While most games handle this smoothly, it bothers me. I tried adjusting the Windows sound settings and rapidly changing the volume, but the issue persists. It seems to be related to buffer overruns, which I wasn't familiar with before. I'm currently using Windows 11 in high-performance mode with only essential background programs running. The problem appears to stem from a recent Windows 11 installation, and my PC specs are within normal ranges. I'm testing on a Windows 11 machine with an Asus ROG B550-A motherboard, RX 7900XT graphics card, and a Corsair RM750X headset connected via a 3.5mm jack to the motherboard.

Download the chipset drivers from the provided link;
https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads.../b550.html
Obtain audio and LAN drivers via the Motherboard support site;
ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING | Motherboards | ROG Global
rog.asus.com
Retrieve GPU drivers from here;
https://www.amd.com/en/support/download....00-xt.html
Organize the files into four folders, each covering a different driver aspect. Place them on the installer media after creating your bootable USB installer.
After installing all drivers in an elevated command, connect to www and perform an OS update.

Your file isn't functioning properly.
Check the BIOS version for your motherboard.
You're currently installing Windows 11 from scratch about two weeks ago.
Where did you obtain the operating system installer? Did you rebuild it to avoid issues? Were you using offline installation with all drivers updated and running in elevated command mode without internet?
The latest audio driver you have is v6.0.9700.1, are you still using that version?
Your system uses a Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 1tb NVME drive.
Are there any pending firmware updates for your SSH device?

Your system seems to be encountering difficulties with real-time audio and other operations. You might notice buffer underruns showing up as drop-outs, clicks, or pops. Several DPC routines from a driver running in your setup appear to be taking too long to execute. One issue could be related to power management—consider disabling CPU throttling settings in the control panel and BIOS configuration. It might also help to check for BIOS updates.

Additionally, the latest metrics indicate a high "highest measured interrupt to process latency" of 317.80 microseconds, and the "highest reported ISR routine execution time" is 274 microseconds, both significantly higher than typical values.

-BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc, 3002 23/02/2023
-Windows 11 Source: Initially purchased a Windows 10 license from the Microsoft store in early 2020 and upgraded to Windows 11 last year. Recently I performed a factory reset, fully formatting all drives, but opted not to use USB boot media as usual. Instead, I followed the standard installation process, updated drivers, including GPU drivers that are more sensitive. I haven’t experienced audio driver problems before, and I’m unsure how to manually install drivers with an elevated command prompt.

-Audio drivers: 10.0.22621.1, for "Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)". Updated on 6/05/2022. Where should I look for newer versions? Should I update via Device Manager or use a more specialized method?

-Corsair RM750X: It’s approximately two years old now. I have aftermarket cables, but they are the official Type 4 sleeved kit from Corsair and should work with this exact PSU.

-OS Drive (970 Evo PLUS): Samsung Magician reports that all my SSD firmware is up to date, including the OS drive.

UPDATE: Connecting my headset through the 3.5mm jack on the monitor’s back and routing it via AMD’s audio driver eliminated the clicking/popping noise during testing. I’m not sure why this happened but won’t investigate further unless performance improves during gaming.

You have pending BIOS updates; I will update gradually until you reach the newest release. After confirming your BIOS is up to date, clear the CMOS.

Windows 11 Source: Initially, I purchased a Windows 10 license from the Microsoft store in early 2020 and upgraded to Windows 11 last year. Recently, I opted for the built-in factory reset, which included fully formatting all drives, but I didn’t use USB boot media as before. Instead, I followed my usual process: connected to the internet, performed a fresh Windows installation normally, and installed drivers myself, especially for GPU drivers that are more sensitive. I haven’t experienced any audio driver problems before, and I’m not familiar with manually installing drivers via an elevated command prompt.

This is the main issue here. Those who upgraded to Windows 11 through the internal upgrade route are recommended to reinstall the OS from scratch, after recreating a bootable USB installer for Windows 11. Resetting the OS doesn’t help if there’s corruption during the upgrade.

It’s best to install the OS in offline mode without the www, then manually install all relevant drivers using the latest versions with an elevated command prompt—such as: Right click installer > Run as Administrator.

If you encounter the OOBE screen, refer to this guide:

Once all drivers are installed, connect to the internet and allow the OS to update automatically. This prevents unnecessary driver downloads that often cause problems after Windows 8/8.1.

Yes, you're asking if you need a separate USB drive in addition to the flash drive for installing drivers beforehand. Which drivers should you manually install on that USB before reinstalling W11 from fresh media, and which can be left for Windows to download afterward?

Download the necessary chipset drivers from the provided links.
Audio and LAN drivers are available on the Motherboard support site.
GPU drivers can be obtained from the AMD support page.
Ensure you have four folders containing driver files for each aspect, placing them on the installer media after creating your bootable USB installer.
After installing all drivers in an elevated command, connect to the website and perform an OS update.
