Sound alerting attention
Hello, I recently assembled my first PC three weeks ago. Last night I updated one of the motherboard drivers and noticed a beep just before the system shut down completely. It sounds like the computer is overclocked. Switching to stock settings or enabling game boost removed the noise. I’ve included a video for reference.
Intel i7-10700k upgraded to a 5.1Ghz motherboard. The MSI Z490 Tomahawk GPU paired with the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Gaming OC, 8GB GDDR6 memory. RAM includes Patriot Viper Steel, DDR4, 16GB at 3600MHz, CL17 overclocked to 4200MHz. The PSU is a SeaSonic Focus GX-750W, and the CPU cooler is Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 with an SSD.
Great setup. The beeps occurred just once—those codes might explain what’s going on.
This sound occurs each time I power down my computer. I ran a stress test on it for an hour today and everything checked out—temperatures and parts were normal. After updating the motherboard driver, the beep stopped yesterday. It began the previous day following the driver update.
In short, I power down my computer and it makes a beep right before it stops completely. As a beginner, those sounds seem strange and confusing.
