I recently needed to upgrade to Windows 10 to run DAZ3D, but it took too long during shutdown or startup. Would it be faster to update instead of waiting? Also, why can’t I set up local accounts directly without having to use an online Microsoft account during installation? I’m still using Linux and only rely on Windows for these tasks. I really don’t miss Windows at all after switching to Linux five years ago.

You can rely on local resources. A brief note at the end suggests skipping this part temporarily.

I didn’t even realize... But should we tackle it locally first, and then check if users prefer a Microsoft account?

since it's from Microsoft and their actions aren't always clear.

This likely relates to Windows being pre-installed on many devices rather than being set up individually by users. Since most people haven’t installed an operating system themselves, Microsoft doesn’t need to make the process simple or fast anymore.

Windows altered its approach in a recent update, making things even more frustrating. It's still feasible, but it restricts you to local accounts only if no network is found. If a network is detected, it won't offer offline options and won't let you install unless you connect to the internet using a Microsoft account. I recently reinstalled Windows on a laptop without disconnecting the Wi-Fi card, which caused it to recognize networks and block offline creation. It forced me to either create an online account during setup or completely bypass the installation by starting fresh. Eventually, I opted for an online account during setup, then created an offline user afterward and removed the Microsoft account. It seems Microsoft is pushing users toward its less desirable services.

This kind of stuff makes me prefer Linux over Windows whenever possible.

This subject matter involves issues that aren't appropriate for Windows and should be addressed elsewhere.

Some people claim many parts in today’s cars are unnecessary or poorly designed. I believed my comparison was understandable.
