I was ready to connect the controller to my PC, but when I removed and reinserted the USB it stopped working. After checking the port, it seemed damaged. Could you offer some advice on how to resolve this issue?

You’ll likely require a tiny instrument to reshape each pin, such as a dental tool or toothpick. In the worst case, the connection point might be completely damaged.

The computer is not starting and it seems the USB connection failed, making the PC inaccessible.

Avoid hitting the USB port in the dark or pushing it in forcefully. It seems this isn't its first encounter.

Disconnect the header or remove the pins using side cutters. Likely everything is okay; part of the USB protocol from the 1.1 era requires power/data shorts to ground to trigger shutdown.
