soooo, i overclocked my gpu...
I overclocked my gv-n970wf3oc-4gd (Gigabyte G1 gaming GTX 970) and here are some results.
I used MSI After Burner for the overclock and 3DMARK for benchmarks, plus the FireStrike Extreme benchmark.
Here are the findings:
GPU clock: stock 5282 → +50 → 5460 (68°), +100 → 5594 (69°), +150 → 5683 (70°)
Memory clock: +50 → 5726, +100 → 5760, +150 → 5764 (still 70°)
Total points reached: 482, about 9%.
What do you think? Was it a success? Any advice or tips?
It's not bad at all. I only managed to hit +150 mhz on my GPU clock with the GTX 1060. Honestly, you did a solid job with the GPU clock settings.
1). Try to increase your Memory Clock even more. I was really impressed by how much I could push it while keeping stability, and I managed to get it up to +700 Mhz. Start with +300 Mhz on memory and build from there.
2). Don't forget to stress test. I usually use FurMark, but I've heard it can quickly overheat components if you mess with voltages.
3). Set your "Power Target" as high as your software allows for overclocking.
Good luck!

I really felt a performance improvement after testing the OC, then I played Mass Effect 3 for a while (it's an old game... but it still deserves a boost), and the card is doing well.
No issues so far...
Great news, not bad for a day's work.
conclusion:
1. i experienced some stuttering at +150 core clock, so i reduced it to +135, which seems effective.
2. i adjusted the memory clock to +300 as you suggested, appears sufficient.
and i stress tested with furmark for 100,000 frames (about 20 minutes).
i reached a temperature of 77 degrees (that's not too hot, right?)
i noticed a clear improvement in graphics after this overclock, and the card is running smoothly without any crashes or shutdowns.
i believe this will be my final overclock attempt—i'm satisfied with the outcome.
