Importing audio files into Sony Vegas generates peaks, yet the preview fails to play audio despite the volume control moving correctly. Occasionally, audio plays sporadically only after a system restart. There exists an audio-rendered version of whatever I'm working on.

Have you reinitialized Vegas to check for any differences?

I would have mentioned Premiere Pro, AE isn't a video editing tool for what truly counts...

Adjusted the default audio settings to use Windows Classic Wave Mapper with your Sony Vegas preferences, yet nothing was playing. It might be worth exploring alternative editing tools.

I achieved a significant breakthrough. Adjusting the 5.1 settings and modifying the wave mapper now allows me to faintly hear it through my main headset (Razer Kraken 7.1), while the Apple headphones sound clear from the audio jack. Perhaps I should adjust to using them for editing instead of my primary setup.
