Sony just released a cool game for PC gamers called Spider-Man.
For about five years, I couldn't play any game except one called PlayStation 5 from Sony. That was fine until this new thing came out: the Spider-Man homecoming game. It's a VR game and it felt very cheap for just that.
Sony is stuck here. Microsoft controls most of the big game studios right now. It just takes time before Sony gets rid of their hardware and starts focusing on software to keep that part of the business going. That's not true for me at all. I'm not a big Xbox fan or a console player. But it's pretty clear what will happen next. We're going to see even more of this coming up soon.
Why are some people so sure that Sony is just going to shut down hardware and move only to software? Why would anyone laugh at that idea? The PS5 isn't selling out the market right now because there aren't enough units, not because of the pandemic. When it first came out, there were around 8 million on sale, but they sold faster than the 8 million from the PS4. Every single shipment Sony makes sells very fast. Sony's top studios are known for having amazing sales with their games. Even if some critics say one game failed really hard on Metacritic, those studios still have over about 47 million active subscriptions, maybe even more. What reason do they have to try and save a big part of the business?
Sony will never be just like a normal software company. They only make hardware, which is not very good. I know that sounds silly, but it's true that Sony isn't good at writing code. That idea is totally wrong and not supported by facts. If Sony becomes all about software, they will surely fail because they cannot write programs to save their own lives. Look at the terrible interface for the PlayStation.
How am I going an extreme? They are a hardware company plain and simple. They should outsource their software to someone who can actually do it well. Hardware is what they do best. The PlayStation five would be even better if it had a good operating system that was intuitive and didn't force the user to look all different places to find some setting I have both systems so I know from experience which is easier to use and navigate. The way the PlayStation five shuts down and leave the controller on is absolutely ridiculous you can't shut it off like you can with the Xbox from the controller you have to go to some stupid setting to tell them to shut down. I find this unacceptable in this day and age. Like I said Sony software interfaces suck
