Hello, your girlfriend recently got her hands on some Sony WH-XB910N headphones and sometimes uses them with her (2017?) MacBook Air. We’ve faced a tricky issue we haven’t found a fix for yet. Every time she uses the headphones, she needs to open settings, go to audio, and then input to check sound from the MacBook. It seems like she expects the microphone output to play through the speakers for testing, but instead it’s just the low-quality audio coming out. This only occurs on this specific MacBook, while other models work fine. I’m struggling to find a solution, and my last attempt was to perform a hard reset, which would take her a day or two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

On Windows it is referred to as "hands-free" functionality. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208896
