My desktop PC sometimes won't turn on right after I press the button. It usually takes a few seconds or even minutes to start working again. This problem started only about a week ago, though I built this computer around a year ago. Sometimes when I press the power switch, it doesn't work at all. Other times it works after just a few seconds. In other cases, it starts right away. I still don't know why this is happening. But recently I tried changing the power cord and the PC started working immediately. That made me think the problem was with the wire. No, because the same thing happened again tomorrow. So when the computer doesn't start up fast, I just unplug the cord, wait a few seconds, plug it back in, and it works right away. I'm worried my power supply is broken, so should I send it back for repair? EDIT: I should point out that the PC works perfectly once it turns on.

Which power supply and motherboard do you have? Check if the power button isn't working right.

Just plug those two wires from your power button directly into the motherboard. It's the easiest way to get your device running without needing any fancy tools or complicated steps. You just need to make sure both connections go in before trying anything else.

If you have a reset button in your computer's case, move those power wires over to the place where that button is. Then flip the reset button to start up your system.

I've already tried to fix this by jumping it, but I think it's not a power button problem either. I also turned it off using the main power button, put it in sleep mode, woke it up with the power button, and restarting through the Windows taskbar all worked fine. However, putting it on a different outlet here at home makes the issue stay there.

I'm coming back here to tell you I found the bug. My computer keeps turning on by itself when I start using a BIOS Flashback trick. You can see this happen if the green light starts blinking inside the BIOS setup window. When that light is off, everything works fine normally. The button doesn't look stuck either.
