It's mainly about playing games rather than software in general. The games that would be left behind on Linux are pretty rare, which is why I wondered if others are treating old Linux titles as abandonware, just like DOS and Windows games. Linux isn't the only place with open-source games—there are always some on any platform that gets abandoned (Apache OpenOffice was getting close, though it got updated this year). I’m not really into Linux much except occasionally, so I don’t know many of the older programs. The ones I’ve used are mostly from PC magazines dating back to 2008.
