Hello, I’m lucky enough to own an AMD RX 7900 XTX Red Devil OC. This is my first experience with an "Only" AMD configuration, and I’ve run into several challenges...

Details: I’m running Windows 11 Professional (64-bit), version 22H2. My AMD Adrenalin Edition is 23.1.1. The RX 7900 XTX is at version 22.40.00.62-230106a-387257C-AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition. The driver version is 31.0.14000.62003. My system runs AMD Adrenalin Edition on a Monitor with BIOS version 022.001.002.009.

First problem: I have a 2K monitor from iiyama (GB2790QSU Gold Phoenix) featuring DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI port. Connecting it via the Montior using a DisplayPort cable 2.0 works, but at 144Hz instead of the full 240Hz on 2K resolution. Switching to Full HD (1920x1080) lets me reach 240Hz. Going to 1920x1200 limits it to 60Hz. I’m not sure what’s causing this. I’ve contacted the manufacturer for support, who suggested checking edit data and mentioned possible display issues. They provided a link: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/monitor_info_view.html and attached an info_result.png showing the application results.

Second issue: My second monitor only has HDMI 1.2 and VGA ports. When connected via HDMI 2.1, my main monitor (iiyama 2K) would flicker severely, the second monitor wouldn’t appear, and the screen would go black. After disconnecting it, my main monitor’s settings changed to 64Hz, and the system stopped recognizing the RX 7900 XTX, falling back to internal graphics. After cleaning up Device Manager and removing the card, the PC worked fine with just the main display. I’m worried about trying to connect it again next time, as I fear more problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sure you’ve talked through similar problems with someone who shared your monitor and concerns, possibly a few weeks back. It seems like the issue might not have been resolved. Have you considered adjusting Display Screen Compression? Also, try turning off MultiPlane Overlay? Check if the newest motherboard BIOS and GPU firmware/vBios are installed.

I’m not sure how to handle that... I’ve never seen it before and don’t understand how to do it :x The newest motherboard BIOS is available. The latest GPU firmware/vBios are confirmed.

Search online for information about adrenalin and its relation to firmware or BIOS. Review the GPU's webpage for relevant details.

In fact, yes they do: https://www.amd.com/de/support/graphics/...rx-7900xtx Updating drivers is "only possible" through "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.1.1 for Radeon RX 7900 Series". That's usually the case. Earlier I would have liked a short explanation before searching online, but I think it’s worth checking Wikipedia. Disabling MultiPlane Overlay probably affects something in my registry settings; it "might" help, though I’m unsure which feature it controls. (Reddit users noted limited functionality.) I’ve seen a Reddit thread about this, but it talks about the 6000 Series GPUs. Should I adjust another setting for the 7000 Series? Have you tried changing Display Screen Compression? =>> Most searches explain what it does and show steps on DELL devices via Regedit. Still unclear if it applies to every GPU or just certain models. Probably best to wait for the next AMD release and hope things work out.

I understand your request. However, AMD only offers software through their official website. You’ll need to visit their site directly to find the vBios and GPU BIOS for your AMD RX 7900 XTX.

You should recognize the graphics card you own! It’s a Red Devil OC from Powercolor, so check their site at AT POWERCOLOR. There’s also a download page for it: https://www.powercolor.com/downloads. No newer vBios are available for this card, but other options exist.

Sorry for the confusion... Based on PowerColor, the BIOS Update is provided through AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. How did I reach this conclusion? You can only download the outdated version of AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 22.12.1, while a newer release 23.1.1 is available directly from the official AMD site. PowerColor link: https://www.powercolor.com/download?type...1671001076 I’m not certain if they offer BIOS updates as separate downloads or if they rely solely on Adrenalin Edition for updates. I also suspect this might be a common point of misunderstanding, especially since I’m still learning. Thanks for your advice and support.

Yes, I'm using the same monitor and GPU as you, experiencing the same issue. Do you have any recent updates or patches available?
