Hey everyone, I have a few routing options but don’t know which one performs best. My setup is mainly for gaming and torrenting, and my PC uses a wired connection so speed is important. Here’s what I’m considering:

Top choice: Modem inside cabinet → Ethernet router inside cabinet → set up my ASUS AC5300 as a wireless AP → Bottom modem inside cabinet → data point → router in living room → route back to cabinet → switch inside cabinet → connect to other ports?

Any suggestions?

It's not the routing that will cause issues; most people will suggest the wired option because it’s more dependable. Your wireless setup shouldn’t lead to speed problems unless there’s a particular device limiting performance, like a weak wireless card or poor signal between your PC and the AC5300. Or if the cable between your router and switch is subpar—such as using a 100Mbps switch with internet speeds above 100Mbps.
