GTA 4 was an enormous disappointment, a poorly made release that Rockstar had to address with a press statement saying it was built for hardware that didn’t exist yet. They even struggled with basic tasks like setting up controllers, opting instead to copy the Xbox 360 setup. As someone who loves the series, I upgraded to a new system years ago—my previous one was outdated. Even with a modest 1280 resolution in 4x3 days, it performed poorly on low settings. Four years later, another upgrade with a faster GPU brought it up to around 40+ FPS, though still not great. A few years back, I installed a Ryzen system with a RX580, 32GB RAM, NVMe and SSDs, but it still lagged behind expectations. It was clearly a very poor port.
