Some issues reported with the RGB fans on the Aorus Z-390.
I'm experiencing an issue with ARGB control on my be quiet! Light Wings 120mm PWM fans. They spin normally but ignore ARGB signals on my Gigabyte Z-390 Aorus Master board, even when connected directly or via hub. An ARGB LED strip functions correctly. After updating BIOS and running Windows 10, I've tried SignalRGB and RGB Fusion calibration in RGB Fusion. Calibration causes lights to blink randomly and the fan to display arbitrary colors. The oscilloscope reading shows distorted signals that don't match the image. Compared to a friend's setup with a different motherboard works there. Tested fans on another PC with ARGB enabled. Reached Gigabyte support who didn't provide further help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated if someone has faced similar problems.
Welcome to the forums! Is this newly not working or has it never worked? Have you tried downgrading BIOS? Are there any ARGB settings you can find in BIOS? It might just be that this is a ~0th gen product with ARGB. Like, the z390 chipset was released in '18 and the very first ARGB products only hit the market in late '17. Given that there isn't even a universally agreed upon standard for ARGB even today, my guess is that the board is probably speaking a language the fan can't understand
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I understand you've tried the latest update to the fans but are unsure if the issue is persistent. I checked the BIOS settings, but there don't seem to be any relevant options. The problem appears to occur only on a specific motherboard—while other models with the same type work perfectly, this one causes occasional issues. Sometimes pressing the Calibrate button in Fusion RGB helps, or simply reconnecting and unplugging the cable resolves the problem.
