Some GTAV PC textures are not displaying correctly.
Today, I observed that certain textures in the game load slowly, especially while driving. Structures appear suddenly, some sections of the road vanish, and when switching to first person, car interiors sometimes fail to load. This problem isn’t limited to the game environment; it also affects other areas. For instance, pressing the scroll wheel (or the up arrow key) to open the phone causes a few-second delay before it appears. Once opened, scrolling through contacts takes a long time to finish loading. Additionally, in GTA Online, the player list sometimes doesn’t display properly. I haven’t encountered this issue before, so someone could please explain its cause. I’m trying to replace components on my PC that might be responsible.
My system details are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 2200g
GPU: GTX 1050 (2GB)
8GB RAM
2TB HDD
I discovered that opening Task Manager each time I start the game and setting "GTAV.exe" priority to high resolves the problem, but I don’t want to do this repeatedly.
One reason I think this issue is significant is that I recently relocated, which required moving my PC as well. I handled it carefully and kept it protected with pillows during transport. For the first day, GTAV worked without issues. However, the following day, when I moved my PC slightly after installing a new keyboard, the vibrations from the case’s rubber grips caused friction with my desk, leading to noticeable shaking.
I suspect this vibration might have affected one of the components, though I’m not certain. The game runs smoothly overall, but textures still render poorly.
if buildings seem to appear suddenly and map areas lack textures, it might be due to the CPU being occupied by other processes. alternatively, a weak CPU or insufficient system resources could be the cause. i experienced this with an ultralow power cpu years ago; i'm wondering if running other tasks like updating to 1903 or epic updates for fortnite might be using the cpu and triggering the issue. if you're playing on steam, try closing the game, going to your game library, selecting gta v, right-clicking, properties, local files tab, and clicking verify game integrity to ensure no disk corruption. are you using high or ultra textures? with 2 gbs of gpu vram, you should run at normal or high settings, not higher.
I used to run on ultra, then I reduced it to high.
The issue remained even at high settings, so I tested it on normal.
The problem stayed consistent in normal mode too.
However, the game ran smoothly (40-60fps) on ultra.
It's been a year since I built the PC, so perhaps it's time to replace the CPU thermal paste? I'm not sure.
if the cpu is running hot and cpu fan is making noise, yes, replace thermal paste, if no, leave it like that
you didnt checked it other proceses are using cpu while the game is being played, check if anything is using lots of cpu when playing
also doesnt harm to run ddu to remove the dpu drivers, then reinstall drivers
apart from textures, are you using any filtering, could you check and share what graphical settings you have there?, i have the same cpu but a weaker gpu, we could compare results, my gpu barely reaches 40 fps but i have some high settings enabled and no problem like that
did you ran the game integrity check i mentioned early?
i played the game on a hard disk, then transferred it to an nvme drive, which shows some improvement, though not significant. if the hard disk is only used for games and windows isn't on another hard drive, it won't make much difference. but if both windows and the game are running on the same hard disk, it could help, benefiting both the operating system and the game. one shouldn't run windows on a hard disk at all.
I observed that the SQL server host program I was using was running quietly, consuming around 5% of the CPU. Besides that, "GTAV Launcher" was using about 1.5%.
Yes, I confirmed the game integrity and it stated "All files have been validated".
I’m not sure what DDU and DPU drivers are, but I plan to research them and attempt to reinstall my GPU drivers.
Also, my birthday is approaching on the 31st, and I might upgrade to a GTX 1660. Will that help with the issue?
Here are some screenshots I attached showing my graphics settings in GTAV.
