that's a start, even in gaming? I'd try this just to see how limiting 8x is, because 8x can already provide decent amount of bandwidth

You're asking about the GPU you're using. The 1650 is PCIe 3, so it should work with the 3050 (Gen4 X8). That's perfectly fine!

It doesn't make sense unless your RAM is incredibly fast, causing the CPU to panic and halt operations to prevent damage.

Expo might be affecting bandwidth—this seems unusual. Look at the BIOS version, review the support drivers on the board’s site, and confirm your current setup.
