I chose to reinstall Dead Island and Saints Row IV so I could play with friends who used to run them. Back when I had Windows 7 (now I’m on Windows 8.1), they’d launch smoothly, but now everything freezes—just a blank screen or black, some intro sounds, and crashes. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? My system specs are listed online, and it looks like my hardware isn’t being updated properly.

Set them up and execute them with admin privileges. Likely disable UAC in 8 steps, and ensure DirectX is updated.

I discussed a post from a day before where a Nvidia graphics card was showing fullscreen games with a black screen, but Vsync fixed it while FPS dropped. Eventually, they reinstalled the drivers and it improved.

I'll attempt this later (probably tomorrow). I was using a potato PC before it stopped working; I've checked the drivers already.
