PC tends to shut down abruptly in certain titles. Initially rare, it started with World of Tanks and now affects games like World of Warships and Halo Infinite, happening almost every match. My testing covers only multiplayer games so far. I ran Heaven Benchmark but couldn't trigger a shutdown. I'm exploring different workloads to see if this happens. I've been keeping an eye on system temperatures with RTSS to check for overheating, but all readings seem normal. I haven't checked core temperatures yet. I'm looking for alternative methods to start a hard shutdown before diving deeper. It would be frustrating if my team members were disappointed by my frequent exits. What other steps can I take to figure this out?

You're looking for a method to temporarily remove your main GPU while keeping it installed. This would let you test how your system behaves with a different configuration. Check if your motherboard supports a slot that can be swapped or removed, and consider using a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for the second card. If not, you might need to use software tools to swap cards in software mode. Always back up settings before making changes.

The 1000W power supply seems sufficient; 500W would work just fine. However, I concur with @Dedayog about GPU or PSU selection. Occasionally RAM issues can lead to similar problems, which is why I'm focusing on specifications. You may want to review compatibility charts—though I'm cautious with Pangoly recommendations since they had prior concerns about mine. A matching part number can help ensure compatibility.

I usually play two cards in SLI. I only pulled the second card to try and figure out my problems. Even if that wasn’t true, why not use a 1000 watt PSU? I’m not sure compatibility would be an issue. All these components have worked well together for more than four years. In fact, I’ve owned this motherboard for almost nine years now. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s about to stop working.

Bump can verify the problem is spreading to other titles like Witcher 3 and Skyrim. Even classic games such as Age of Empires may eventually lead to shutdowns. To track your PC’s performance, you can use monitoring tools to identify the issue more precisely.

The issue appears to be resolved by lowering the GPU power target. Continuing tests shows consistent outcomes. It seems the problem likely involves the GPU or PSU. Next steps are unclear.

You might consider using a separate psu as suggested earlier by @Dedayog. This helps confirm whether the problem isn't related to that component.

Could we examine your event viewer logs for any driver crashes or errors? If not, a useful free utility named WhoCrashed can analyze them automatically and identify crash logs, offering clearer understanding of the issue.
