Some features of the taskbar seem to be malfunctioning completely?
Hi guys, any assistance would be really helpful.
I'm facing a problem where I can't interact with the start button on the taskbar, the time/date button on the left side, or the control panel area for tasks like changing Wi-Fi settings. I can still open pinned apps in the task bar and right-click on the start button works fine, but clicking those other elements doesn't function properly.
When I try to click the start button, I only see a spinning icon next to my mouse without anything loading.
I believe this issue began after I explored the security tab on my C drive, thinking I could download files directly there. Later, I realized I needed to save everything to a folder on the C drive.
I've tried reverting my security settings on the driver to match my D drive, but it didn't fix the problem.
I also restarted my computer and restarted the Windows Explorer process in Task Manager without success.
If anyone has any advice, I would really appreciate it. Right now, I'm unable to access many apps. Thank you!
Try executing DISM and SFC commands to check for assistance.
If they don’t help, consider my unusual approach;
Obtain a Windows ISO file matching your current version (or newer) from here.
After downloading, double-click the file to mount it.
Navigate to the mounted location and double-click setup.exe, then wait for the installation window.
Proceed with the setup as usual, but select the option to "keep all files, settings & apps" at the end.
Wait for the process to complete, and after a successful reinstall (data intact), you should see a functional taskbar.
I sometimes use this technique to resolve such issues, as it likely replaces Windows files during the process, which might fix the problem. I’m not aware of simpler alternatives, but give it a try.
