The problem arises because you must switch to something different with Forge, and OptiFine is holding all other developers responsible for their mods malfunctioning when used together. The real issue is that OptiFine is the correct mod, but it's being used incorrectly by the wrong person.
since forge modifications don't always require more resources than standard vanilla, forge actually delivers a significant speed improvement compared to the basic version.
