I was checking my local Facebook marketplace for parts and noticed someone listing a Ryzen 5800 from an Alienware Aurora R10. They mentioned it’s vendor locked, which surprised me. I thought PSB was mainly for servers and workstations, but I saw some forum discussions about users dealing with vendor locked Ryzen from the R10. There’s not much clear info online about this. Are other Alienware models using PSB or is this just a misunderstanding? I’m also wondering if Dell CPUs are sometimes locked in this way. Knowing that even used Ryzen 5700/5800 could be vendor-locked makes me hesitant about buying secondhand.
